AFFIRMATIVE: (THAT WE SHOULD HAVE COMPULSORY MILITARY SERVICE)

* EMPLOYMENT: - This would allow people to receive training in various areas which they may not be given the chance to receive in their everyday life. Apart from learning military training, employment skills would also be taught for those straight out of high school, so employment will be easier to obtain.

NEGATIVE: (THAT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE COMPULSORY MILITARY SERVICE)

* FREEDOM: - With forcing people into the military, it takes away from a persons freedom of choice and the ability to allow people to make their own decisions.

* SCHOOLING: - When would a proposal like this be made. If compulsory military was introduced, at what age would we force people to do it. (This question would be defined in the affirmative teams definition). For most debates of this topic, people who have just finished High School are the option, but what about people who want to move onto University and TAFE, surely forcing them to do something for another 2 years of their life is ludicrous.
